Dempster Duggins, 17, is a strange teenager. He enjoys eating cheerios at four in the morning, and he fills his spare time with thoughts of time paradoxes. When he is suspended from school for one week, he stays home alone. Curious things begin happening after Dempster dreams about a spirit named the Grim Guider. The house next door reverts itself to its 1930’s dilapidated state. He walks by his other neighbor’s house and sees the inhabitants at an extremely young or old age. These “time twists” are occurring everywhere in Dempster’s life, and they change from day to day. Meanwhile, Dempster is following the nightly orders from the mysterious Grim Guider. By day, he questions the Guider’s intentions; by night, he is powerless to resist. Only when the Grim Guider’s true intentions become clear does Dempster realize that he must resist at all costs, or lose everything he holds dear.
